COVID Test #5

Last night there was difficulty breathing and chest pain. This morning it felt like someone was sitting on Zayne’s chest. We tried for a clinic appointment, but were told to go to the ER.

All tests (blood, x-ray, echo, ekg) are good. The doc thought it may be something related to her esophagus. After taking a med that coats the esophagus, Zayne feels normal. Unfortunately, there was the trauma of having another COVID test and a painful IV.

She probably had a pill stuck that dissolved in her esophagus and caused irritation. Her doc was correct

We are very happy that we don’t need to spend the night, and that her heart is still recovering and not getting worse.

After taking med that made her feel better

Heart Cath #3 in 2020

At hospital just after 6 am

This should be the last heart catherization of 2020. The numbers are slightly better by 1 or 2 points since the June cath. Better to be have a very small improvement than to have the numbers going in the wrong direction.

Antibody rejection is rated 0 (that is very good). Cellular rejection is at 1 R which is considered very mild and it is ignored.

The nasty antibodies floating around in her bloodstream are going down (and not attacking her heart).

The Required Cat Drawing

Next heart cath is her annual in June 2021. The annual cath is more invasive, because they will go into her right (vein) and left (artery) sides of her heart. Also, her flat time will be 4 hours instead of 2 hours.

Zayne has had a rough week, because she received the painful Meningococcal Group B vaccination while she was under anesthesia. Even though she escaped the painful injection, she didn’t escape the side effects: very painful injection site (pain would wake her up during the night), feeling achy, sickly, and had a fever.

Back to transplant clinic in 2 weeks, and if things look stable, we will be down to once a month visits. Zayne’s heart is taking a long time to heal, and she is still in heart failure, but we hope it will continue to improve.

Double Digits

Happy 10th Birthday!!!

Zayne turned 10 years old on October 29th – double digits! This year, we didn’t make a cake or cupcakes, because we were too full from her Indian food birthday dinner (curbside pickup). We’ll probably still bake something to celebrate, but it may be 10 yrs and 2 weeks birthday.

On Saturday, Zayne had to get her 4th COVID test in preparation for her heart catherization on Monday, Nov 2. She was hysterical, and I was surprised that they didn’t have other people at the testing drive through that would help deal with her fears. It took 3 swabs and over 20 minutes and promises for a gift until she allowed the test – this one didn’t go as deep as the previous tests, so not too bad.

There will be another post this week when we get the results of her cath.
